I’m happy to announce the arrival of: MAUDE!

Roughly 7 years old. 50 pounds. She’s a mastiff/bulldog mix. She’s smart and attractive and friendly and routinely expels toxic farts – and those are just a few of the things we have in common. Read the rest of this entry »

My stair race on Sunday was obviously a huge reason why I went to Colorado last weekend, but it’s always great to see family, and I love spending time with my sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and niece. I didn’t take many other photos while I was there… except of everything I ate!

Sunday was a great day for milestones. I competed in my 30th (!) stair climb race. It was held at Republic Plaza, the tallest building in Denver. 56 stories tall!

Denver is the 12th city that I’ve raced in. I’m up to a dozen! (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, and New York City are the others.)
And I’ve haven’t even told you about the race yet! It was a killer. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m headed off to Denver this weekend, for my next stair race. I’m getting excited… and nervous. It’s in the 56-story Republic Plaza:

The race ends on the 53rd floor… but starts two stories down, in the basement… but the lobby is twice as tall as the other floors… and I don’t know if there’s a 13th floor or not… so I’m not sure of the exact floor count. It’s a lot. And in the tallest building in Colorado. And there’s one big secret that I haven’t shared with you about this race… UNTIL NOW! Read the rest of this entry »

I kicked off my weekend with an awesome workout on Friday…and I’m still sore. The venue for my workout was one of the most famous places in Los Angeles: The Hollywood Bowl!

Look closely: I’m balancing on the narrow tops of two benches. My legs are quivering. Also, check out the Hollywood Sign in the distance!
This isn’t my first workout at the Hollywood Bowl – nor is it my Read the rest of this entry »

I love a fun kitchen gadget. My friends know it, too. So when I was chatting with my friends Kristy and Mike a few weeks ago, Kristy asked if I had a Veggetti. I didn’t – I hadn’t even heard of it – and we moved on to other topics of conversation. Then, three days later, a package arrived. Kristy and Mike sent me a Veggetti!
A veggetti is a simple little spiral slicer that Read the rest of this entry »

Randy Spelling is a life coach and founder of wellness company Being in Flow, through which he works with clients around the country, doing workshops, classes, and one-on-one coaching (learn more here). Yesterday, I shared seven invaluable lessons I learned from his book, “Unlimiting You,” but what I didn’t mention is that Randy is also a friend. I last saw him a couple weeks ago, when I was in Portland, where I had dinner with him and his adorable daughter.

You may know Randy Spelling, too. He’s part of a famous Hollywood family – his dad, Aaron, was Read the rest of this entry »

I read a wonderful book last year, and since then, I’ve used it as a resource in different parts of my life. I’ve read parts of this book multiple times, scribbled notes all through it, and underlined passages so I could find them easily again. It’s called “Unlimiting You,” by Randy Spelling.

It’s a self-help book that teaches you ways to Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve had my Bowflex MAX Trainer for 16 months, but it wasn’t until last week, when I visited the Bowflex headquarters near Portland, that I learned Bowflex has free apps for most products, including the MAX Trainer. Why didn’t I know this? I downloaded the app while waiting at the Portland airport, and couldn’t wait to start playing around with it. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m a normal dude with a pulse, so of course I love pizza. But being on a super-low-carb food program means that pizza isn’t really an option right now. Unless… I make the crust out of cauliflower!

Yes, folks, it can be done! You can use cauliflower to replace Read the rest of this entry »
