It’s been a busy week. I started my new job on Monday (and it’s been going really well), and I’ve been readjusting to being in the work force. Wednesday was a planned rest day, but I’ve exercised all the other days. I’ve been eating really well – I’ve brought my lunch with me to work for the past four days, and additional food for snacks, since I’ve hit the gym before or after work every day this week (except Wednesday).
I’ve been focused on creating new healthy habits, and, in doing so, completely missed a major blog milestone.

I swear I’m not trying to be on reality shows, but for the second time in three months, I’ve been unexpectedly filmed by reality show crews. The first time was when I showed up at Slimmons and Tia & Tamera (which is airing right now on the Style Network) was filming. Read my post about it here.
Then, Tuesday night, I showed up at my regular gym, and guess who hops on the treadmill five down from mine?
No, really, GUESS.

Remember the angelcots I recently picked up during my impromptu visit to the Armenian grocery store? Well, they’re all gone. But, being the good blogger that I am, I took a few more pictures.
You may recall from my other angelcot post that angelcots are a yellow (and even slightly green), rare, specialty hybrid variety of apricot.

They only place they’re grown is on a few acres in northern California, so ‘specialty’ might be an understatement!

A big thank you to everyone who sent good thoughts my way yesterday. My first day at the new job was great – I met a lot of great new colleagues and absorbed a lot of info… now, onto Day 2!
Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I spent part of my Sunday loading up my crockpot to make some meals to eat throughout the week. There’s no better way to reveal my crockpottery than by playing a riveting, edge-of-your-seat game of What’s In The Crockpot?!
What’s In The Crockpot? is a spin-off of the very popular, smash hit, blockbuster blog game What’s In The RediSetGo?, all of which are archived here. (I haven’t archived my What’s In The Crockpot? installments yet, but it’s on my list.) If you’ve never played before, hold on to your hat! Don’t worry about the rules – you’ll figure it out quickly. And if you get hooked, click here and here to play a couple more installments!
So stuff some shin guards into your socks, because it’s time to play…

Today’s my first day at my exciting new job! I was never a boy scout, but I am prepared. It’s been a while since I’ve worked, and I wanted to set some habits back into place right from the get-go. So I packed a gym bag and woke up early to exercise before work (that’s the plan, at least… I confess that I’m writing this Sunday evening).
I also packed a healthy lunch. In fact, I spent hours yesterday prepping food for the work week. And I’m not joking around. I literally spent hours. You must be wearing your lucky pants… because I took pictures!
It all started at Sprouts, which is quickly becoming my favorite supermarket, thanks to its prices and its proximity to my gym (two blocks away).

There’s no gentle way to put this:

I tried two new workouts back-to-back, and to be honest, I’m still a little sore.
1) Ocean Swimming! Ever since I committed myself to a charity swimming event in the Pacific Ocean (a commitment that still sends shudders down my spine), I’ve been tackling my pre-race checklist:
- Registration completed? Check.
- Wetsuit purchased? Check. (Wanna see me in a wetsuit? You know you do. Click here.)
- Keep up training by swimming laps in a pool? Check.
- Try swimming in the ocean? As of a few days ago… CHECK!
If I had to sum up my first ocean workout in one word, It’d be…

Look what I found! Do you know what these are?

It’s a type of fruit that I had never seen or heard of before yesterday. Naturally, I had to buy some. They’re called…

It’s an exciting day… time to unveil my Weight Loss Chart, Version 3.0!
I started my weight loss chart in early 2010, shortly after I began losing weight, and it proved to be a huge motivator. I hung it in my closet, and it was great to see, every morning as I got dressed, a reminder of the weight that I’d lost so far. Read the rest of this entry »

You can’t count on the 99 Cent Store to actually have anything that’s on your shopping list. Merchandise changes as frequently as I change my underwear (once a week) (kidding). That said, in the past few weeks, I’ve been going specifically to the 99 Cent Store looking for a few items, and, for the most part, I’ve been lucky because they’ve had them in stock. I’m aware that my luck with change any day now (probably as soon as I publish this blog), but that’s a risk that’s worth taking, just because nothing at the 99 Cent Store costs more than a buck.
Here’s my list of healthy items that I’ve been buying at the 99 Cent Store:
1) V8. I love vegetable juice!
