It’s the resolution to the cliffhanger that had, um, a couple of you racked with anxiety and on the edge of your seats!

Here’s the recap, in case you missed my last post: Read the rest of this entry »

January 29, 2015

Healthy, easy dinner alert! Here’s a meal that’s purdy enough to be served to guests. Because that’s exactly what I did, and it was a hit.

2 Days, 8 Climbs, 320 Floors (Seattle and Portland ALA Fight For Air Race Recaps)

January 27, 2015

rainier-tower-seattleWHAT A WEEKEND. On Saturday and Sunday, I competed in back-to-back stair races for the first time. Just the thought of waking up and doing a grueling stair race, after doing an equally grueling stair race the day before, made me anxious. But it happened. And while I’m glad it’s over, I’m so glad I did it.

The first race was in Seattle, and it was held in one of the most interesting buildings I’ve ever seen. It’s called the Rainier Tower (on the left), and the base is a narrow 11-story pedestal. The building looks like it’s defying the laws of physics. It’s very cool. I’m in love.

My favorite vantage point is just outside the front doors. You look up to see Read the rest of this entry »

Despite the mixed feelings I’ve been having about my 5-year weight loss anniversary, I did splurge on a little special something as a present to myself. A little special something… made of little LEGO bricks!

How Many Stairs Have I Climbed in the Past 4 Days?

January 21, 2015

I’ve been stair crazy lately. I’ve been all over town climbing stairs like a maniac. Three of my last four workouts were on stairs. So many stairs.

This cuckoo behavior stemmed from an epiphany I had late last week. I realized that Read the rest of this entry »

I Met Richard Simmons Five Years Ago This Month…

January 19, 2015

…so some sort of celebration is in order, right?

Left: Richard and me in January, 2010. I was 402 pounds. Right: Richard with me weighing well over 10 pounds less.

Left: Richard and me in January, 2010. I was 402 pounds. Right: Richard with me weighing well over 100 pounds less.

I don’t really feel like celebrating, though. I don’t know what I’m feeling, to be quite honest, and, to paraphrase a song lyric, I don’t know how I feel about that.

There’s a lot to celebrate, and muddled emotions aside, I am still very Read the rest of this entry »

Kale and Quinoa Salad

January 18, 2015

5 Cities. 5 Races. 505 Total Floors. My Race Calendar is Filling Up!

January 13, 2015

After looking back on 2014, it’s time to look ahead. I’m also gonna look up, because there are LOTS of stairs in my future!

2014 Year-End Progress Report

January 12, 2015

We’re already almost half a month into 2015 (can you believe it?), but I need to do one big, final reflection on 2014. I’ve already shared my January weigh-in, but I never published my December Workout Progress Report. That’s because I’m rolling it onto a much bigger update: my 2014 Year-End Progress Report!

Breaking news! I’m a big nerd. One of my nerdier endeavors is to Read the rest of this entry »
