I’m making the most of the stay-at-home order in my state, and the scale is proof. I’m 9.2 pounds lighter since I began working from home! In Part One, I talked about my food choices. In this post, I’m tackling exercise. And to sum it up, I’m exercising a lot.
Believe it or not, that’s a selfie! I’m using Read the rest of this entry »
I’ve had my Bowflex Max Trainer for five and a half years. You could technically round that up to a decade! (But I won’t.) It’s an excellent piece of cardio equipment, and I love it as much now as I ever have. It’s a cross between an elliptical and a stair machine, and it really gets my heart rate going and engages all the muscles I use during my stair races.
Of course I brought my Max Trainer with me to Michigan when I moved last year, and Read the rest of this entry »
I’ve never blogged during a global pandemic before! There are first times for everything.
What a depressing couple of weeks it’s been, thanks to the coronavirus and all the awful news that’s resulted because of it. On the whole, I’m in really good shape. There have been no confirmed diagnoses for anyone in my life that I know of. (Then again, Read the rest of this entry »
Wednesday, May 29, 2019: I wake up and can barely walk. My foot, specifically the area around the base of my big toe, is in excruciating pain. What’s especially frustrating is that I don’t know how I injured it. There was no clear moment, the day prior, where I remember rolling it, landing on it funny, or falling. But I did something, because the pain is intense.
There’s no exterior signs of trauma: no swelling, no redness, no cuts or bruises, no bones protruding out of my body. So I start Read the rest of this entry »
The most difficult thing that I moved from California to Michigan was my new Bowflex HVT machine. It was challenging because it’s big, bulky, and awkwardly shaped. It’s an awesome machine, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not easy to get around!
That right there is a piece of home exercise equipment that Read the rest of this entry »
Are you ready for an awesome workout?
That’s me on the Octane Fitness LateralX, an incredible cardio machine I got to use earlier this year while visiting Portland. I raved about it right here on the very blog, but it’s a commercial-grade machine, meaning if you don’t have it at your gym, you’re pretty much screwed. NOT ANYMORE.

Ever heard of LIFT Session? It’s a company that offers live online group fitness classes that you can do in your living room, basement, or any room of your house. I’m not taking about exercise videos. I’m taking about actual classes, with a coach and other students and everything! I’ve been taking LIFT classes for a month. They’re a lot of fun… and they kick my butt – always a good thing!

16 minutes and 17 seconds. That’s how long it took me to race up all the stairs in the Eiffel Tower.
16 minutes and 17 seconds, during which I smiled, sweated, screamed, cried, and pushed myself as hard as I could go, and then even harder.
This wasn’t just another stair race. This felt like an event I’ve been working towards for eight years; a destination that I was always meant to reach, even though I didn’t even know it was on the horizon until a few months ago.
The race was La Verticale de la Tour Eiffel – the Eiffel Tower Vertical. It’s one of the most Read the rest of this entry »
I sound like a broken record at this point, but I love trying new things. And I recently had the chance to try one of Bowflex’s newest products, the HVT. I ended up having a killer workout, and it was so much fun!
The Bowflex HVT is unlike anything I’ve ever used before. HVT stands for Read the rest of this entry »
