The Simple Walking Workout That Wore Me Out

March 18, 2017

I don’t give myself a break from exercise after a race. No resting on my laurels here! Instead, I take a rest day on the day before, so I’m ready to go on race morning. That meant I was due for a workout the day after my hour-long stair race in Springfield, and I couldn’t skip it. Yes, I was achy and sore, but I gotta do what I gotta do. I decided to keep it easy and light… until I stepped on a cardio machine that had other ideas. Read the rest of this entry »

How Much Do I Sweat? I Conducted a Scientific Experiment to Find Out!

February 16, 2017

This post begins with a fantastic workout. I started by doing the signature program on my Bowflex Max Trainer: the 14-minute Max Interval program, which alternates short bursts of high intensity work with longer recovery periods. It’s a challenging 14 minutes…

WOOHOO! I Started the New Year By Finishing the Bowflex 6 Week Challenge

January 2, 2017

In November, I kicked off the 6 Week Challenge, using my Bowflex SelectTech 560 dumbbells. It was definitely a challenge, and the timing when I completed it couldn’t have been more perfect.

A Hike to a Military Facility From the Cold War

December 1, 2016

I love a good historical hike. Whether it’s to the ruins of a 100-year-old hotel, an abandoned bridge that goes nowhere, or the remains of a Nazi sympathizer compound, there’s lots of places to hike around Los Angeles where you’ll get a great workout and see something unique, too!

November 11, 2016

I’m kicking my exercise into higher gear, after a couple low-key months due to injury, and I’m embarking on a new program that will help. It’s the Bowflex 6 Week Challenge, and it’s available on the Bowflex 3DT app that syncs with my Bowflex SelectTech 560 dumbbells.

Thanks to Bowflex, Counting is Obsolete. Use These Dumbbells and Say Goodbye to Counting FOREVER!

June 16, 2016

I realize this is going to make me sound like an arrogant jerk, but I’m totally awesome at counting. I know all the numbers… and what order they go in… AND I don’t even need to rely on my fingers at all. Try not to be too jealous. Unfortunately, thanks to what’s in these boxes, all that hard work is for naught.

Sending Love to Richard Simmons AND a Not-So-Restful Rest Day

June 14, 2016

Quite a few people have asked me what I thought about the current issue of the National Enquirer – the one with the cover story that says Richard Simmons has transitioned into a woman. “Do you think it’s true?” I’ve fumbled my way through some answers to that question, but really, the truest and simplest answer is this: Read the rest of this entry »
