Greetings from Michigan! I arrived yesterday, and I’m so excited to see snow.

I know there’s millions of you all over the east and midwest that have suffered through a horrible winter and can’t wait for the spring to come, but for this California resident, snow is Read the rest of this entry »

Today’s blog post is brought to you by the word “Renaissance.” The word has multiple meanings. It refers to a period of cultural rebirth in European history, stretching from the 14th to 17th centuries, but it also can refer to any period of new growth or renewal of life.
One could argue that, in the past five years, I’ve experienced my own renaissance by embracing fitness and healthy eating, and taking command of my own health. In fact, I’d argue that until I was blue in the face. (And my family and friends will vouch that I’m a stubborn bastard that LOVES a good argument.)
But today’s post isn’t about my renaissance, it’s about… Read the rest of this entry »

Well, replace “did it” with “took Britney Spears’ favorite workout class” and “again” with “for the first time.”

In the Jan/Feb 2015 issue of Women’s Health Magazine, Britney Spears raves about the Read the rest of this entry »

You must be on the edge of your seat! The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here. I ended my last post with a tantalizing cliffhanger: what kind of dip would I serve with my jicama and cold cuts platter? The answer is about to be revealed.
But first…let’s play a little Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes my mind goes to weird places. The other day, while I was waiting at the service deli at the store, I became fixated with a bizarre question: Could meat be sliced thin enough to be see-through? I ended up ordering 1/2 pound each of turkey pastrami and honey ham, as thin as humanly possible, as when I got home, I immediately tested it out.

Honey ham = not see-through. Parts were translucent, though! As for the turkey pastrami… Read the rest of this entry »

Remember the Jacob’s Ladder? Probably not. I’ve only mentioned in once before, in a blog post last May, but it’s a challenging cardio device that’s basically a never-ending ladder. It’s also a Bible story, but that’s a whole different blog post (on a completely different blog).

The rungs move on a circular track, so you’ll Read the rest of this entry »

Hope you had a great long weekend!
I got an easy, healthy snack idea for you, and if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love it even more. This DIY ice cream only has a few ingredients, tastes great, and can be thrown together in a few minutes (although it does take a while to freeze).
Plus, it’s versatile. You can flavor it however you want. I used Read the rest of this entry »

Stair race season is in full swing. I’ve already raced twice this year, and my next race is soon, in Detroit! In April, I’ll be racing in the Aon Center in Los Angeles, and they open up the stairwell at certain times for training purposes. That’s how I ended up, the other day, on the 55th floor.

I was breathing too heavily to smile, because I had just Read the rest of this entry »

I cook a lot, but I very rarely fire up all four burners on my stove at the same time. One recent meal, though, required all four, and while juggling so much cookware was a handful, the end result was magnificent.

I built the menu around one ingredient: Read the rest of this entry »

I don’t dress up fancy very often, so I try to take photos when I do. I know for a fact that my mom enjoys seeing them!

I love the sunlight in this photo! I was trying to look mysterious, but it might have come off as a little pained. Whoops.
On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra held their annual gala. It’s the fourth time that I’ve volunteered to help out. It’s a Read the rest of this entry »
