A Crap Day at the Gym

May 30, 2014

Wednesday was almost a complete wash at the gym. It was a comedy of errors. Thankfully, I’m already looking back and laughing, but at the time, I was annoyed. Here’s what went down:

Colorado Nibbles and Bits… PLUS, “American Ninja Warrior” News!

May 28, 2014

There’s more to share from my long weekend in Colorado, but first… I was on TV the other night!  A few months ago, I went with a group of friends to an all-night taping of “American Ninja Warrior” in Venice Beach. We were cheering on our friend Tommy, who was competing on the show, and the episode aired Monday on NBC. Unfortunately, Tommy wasn’t featured during the broadcast, but if you look closely (don’t blink or look away!) or have your finger on the Pause button, you can see me in the stands!

An Improvised (and Stunning) Colorado Hike

May 27, 2014

Hope everyone had a good long weekend! I spent mine visiting my sister Sarah and her family in Colorado, and one of the highlights was an amazing hike. I love a hike with a view, and check out this view!

Look, it’s me and my dad!

This photo was taken last week, when I went to Las Vegas to visit my dad, who was there for a conference. We stayed at the Paris Hotel and Casino, where I completed a kick-ass workout in the stairwell (read about it here). This post is about everything else!

A Quickie Trip to Paris

May 19, 2014

You know what feels really good? When something that used to absolutely terrify you is no longer scary. In less than two weeks, I’ll be competing in my toughest stair climb race yet, the San Diego TowerTHON. It’s a two-hour endurance event, and I’ve never raced for nearly that long. To be quite frank, it scares the shit out of me (pardon my French). Well, it used to scare the shit out of me. It doesn’t anymore, and I can thank… a quick trip to Paris. Paris, Las Vegas!

I Think I’ll Try to Make Pickles

May 15, 2014

…is what I said one day when I got bombarded with lots of amazing fresh produce. Thanks to my partnership with LA Salad Company, I got my hands on loads of fresh beans and squash. More than I could possibly eat. Since pickling is a classic preservation technique, I thought what the hell? I’ll try to make pickles! I love a good cucumber pickle, but you can pickle all sorts of veggies, so my experiment involved baby zucchini, green pattypan squash (which look like little flying saucers) and yellow wax beans. I also threw in 1/2 of a red onion, because it seems like they’re always making red onion pickles on “Top Chef.”
