Wishing everyone a wonderful Halloween! I went to a party over the weekend, and put together an awesome costume. Toot toot! (That’s me, tooting my own horn.)

TA-DA! This costume may require a little explanation. It was a themed party, and the theme was “Stranger Things,” a fantastic, creepy Netflix show with disappearing kids, weird government experiments, and a monster. A major part of the story is that Read the rest of this entry »

I wrote a blog post last month about motivation, and how it had been eluding me. My foot injury had been preventing me from exercising, and then, once my foot felt better, I just didn’t feel like pushing myself to stick with it.
Well, I’ve been feeling the same way lately. My foot has been Read the rest of this entry »

You all know I like to play with my food, right? I recently opened a new package of eggs, picked two at random to scramble, and had a breakfast brainstorm that made me reach for my Sharpies. So I hosted… an egg funeral!

The brainstorm was sad. Or rather, I thought how sad the other eggs would be. After all, they’ve come this far together: Read the rest of this entry »

I got some heartbreaking news today. Richard Simmons is closing his fitness studio, Slimmons. The last day will be November 19th. I was told this in a mass email sent by the manager.

I’m experiencing a whirlwind of feelings surrounding this news, and the predominant one is, well, heartbreak. It’s devastating news. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s the end of a chapter in my life: I’ve cancelled my gym membership at Crunch, after four and a half years.

Here’s an easy, healthy snack for when you’re craving potato chips but don’t want all the carbs: eggplant chips! All you need are Japanese eggplants, and a few things you probably already have in your cupboard.

Potatoes have about 3 times the carbs that eggplants have (17 grams vs. 6 grams, respectively, per 100 grams), so it Read the rest of this entry »

My recent race and trip to New York made for exciting blog posts, but it also delayed my monthly weigh-in update. And I’m going to delay it a few paragraphs longer, so I can share a couple photos from Six Flags!

The first post on the blog, in 2010, was about going to Six Flags Magic Mountain. It was my first time at a theme park in about a decade, ever since Read the rest of this entry »

My stair race wasn’t the only big event of the weekend, it was just the first. Hours after the race, I was on a redeye to New York City! The reason for the trip was my cousin’s wedding, but I tacked on a couple days to visit friends.
My cousin Rob and his new wife Chloe know how to throw a party. It was a formal, black tie affair, which meant I wore a tuxedo for the first time since my junior prom! Pretty snazzy.

(I posted another tuxedo picture on Instagram; see it here!)
The ceremony was at a church in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the reception was at a fancy country club in Westchester County, New York, that looked straight out of Read the rest of this entry »
