It Only Took Eleven Years, But Now I Have a Bulletin Board For My Weight Loss Chart!

March 14, 2021

I’ve been keeping and updating my weight loss chart since 2010. And during that entire time, I had to taped to my wall, using painter’s tape. Up until a few weeks ago, that is. I finally got a bulletin board for my weight loss chart!

When I lived in California, I never saw the need. Taping it to the wall worked just fine. But Read the rest of this entry »

February Weigh-In and Update

February 7, 2021

Happy February, everyone! I wanted to start this post with a correction. I track my workouts, and last month, in my 2020 Year-End Progress Report, I said that in order for activity to count, for me, as exercise, it needed to “be activity where the sole purpose is to get exercise.” Well, there’s an exception to that rule… shoveling snow.

(There’s actually probably more than one exception, but, for now, I’m going to focus on this one.)

There’s a very practical reason why people shovel snow – Read the rest of this entry »

2020 Year-End Progress Report

January 4, 2021

This is typically one of my favorite posts of the year. I’ve done a Year-End Progress Report every year for ten years, and use it to crunch numbers and check in on all the awesome progress I’ve made over the past 12 months, in regards to my health, fitness, and weight loss.

To be honest, I’m dreading it this year, because I haven’t made any progress. I’ve actually gone in the opposite direction. So I’m rethinking this post. This year’s report isn’t about progress, it’s about taking stock of my circumstances and setting a new baseline, from which I can make all sorts of excellent progress in 2021.

And I’m going to highlight any successes that I come across, so I don’t lose sight of them. I need all the motivation I can get! Let’s practice: Read the rest of this entry »

This Isn’t the 10-Year Anniversary Post I Wanted to Write, But It’s the Post I Needed to Write

September 27, 2020

Happy 10-year blogging anniversary to me! I started this website in September 2010, and in the past 10 years, I’ve shared my story in 1,568 posts. I’ve had 1.2 million page views. (Whoa!)

I’m incredibly proud that I’ve stuck by this website, and have now reached a solid decade of focusing on my health. But the truth is that I’m not in a very good place right now, health-wise, and I don’t feel like celebrating. Read the rest of this entry »

2019 Year-End Progress Report

January 5, 2020

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a delightful holiday season. Here’s a really awesome Christmas present that my sister-in-law Alexis gave me: a portrait of me and JJ as characters on “The Simpsons!” I love it so much.

Now let’s get into it. Time for my yearly wrap up. Time for my 2019 Year-End Progress Report!  Read the rest of this entry »

I Just Weighed Myself For The First Time In Seven Months, And I Learned Some Valuable Lessons

August 5, 2019

Check it out, it’s the return of my weight loss chart!

I last time I had my monthly weigh-in was on New Year’s Day. It wasn’t my intention to go so long without weighing in, but time just has a way of slipping through your fingers, doesn’t it? I honestly can’t remember what Read the rest of this entry »

2018 Year-End Progress Report

January 7, 2019

Happy New Year! My 2019 rolled in with a nasty cold that completely sidelined me for four days. I’m still not 100% feeling better, but the congestion is gone, I’ve begun exercising again, and all that’s left is a sore throat that makes me sound like present-day Kathleen Turner.

But before I rush forth, whole-hog, into the new year, I have some housekeeping to do with 2018. This annual post is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to jump into… My 2018 Year-End Progress Report!

One of my favorite photos from 2018.

Y’all know how I share Read the rest of this entry »

November Weigh-In and Workout Progress Report

November 13, 2018

This month is nearly half over and I never posted my workout progress report from my weigh-in at the beginning of the month. Better late than never, right?

I did my weigh-in on the first of the month, as I always do, but that night I hopped on a jet plane and flew to Michigan for a wedding, and it slipped my mind when I returned four days later. Truth be told, I wanted to forget about it. Read the rest of this entry »
