This month is nearly half over and I never posted my workout progress report from my weigh-in at the beginning of the month. Better late than never, right?
I did my weigh-in on the first of the month, as I always do, but that night I hopped on a jet plane and flew to Michigan for a wedding, and it slipped my mind when I returned four days later. Truth be told, I wanted to forget about it. Read the rest of this entry »

Time for a little bedtime reading.

Hey! That’s Me! In the new issue of Guide to Weight Management, on pages 16 and 17! There’s an article about me, called “Try Looking For Inspiration Away From The Scale!” Here’s what the cover looks like: Read the rest of this entry »

Before I begin my monthly deep dive into stats and charts and other general nerdery, I wanted to quickly share a couple more things that I’m celebrating. As you’ll recall from my post earlier this week, focusing on my successes is a great way to quiet the negative emotions that have surfaced since I began my little exercise break.
So here’s something awesome: Read the rest of this entry »

Time for my monthly update involving my scale and my charts and graphs and data analysis and YUP, I’M A NERD AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT MYSELF! I step on the scale at the beginning of every month, then immediately walk into my closet and update my weight loss chart. Let’s check out that chart: Read the rest of this entry »

New Year’s resolutions are a big deal, and so many of them involve losing weight. Self-improvement is always something I can get behind!

It’s the ninth day of the year, and unfortunately, studies have shown that by the end of two weeks (only five days from now!), nearly one-third of all New Year’s resolutions will have already been abandoned. And GUESS WHAT? I don’t want you to give up on your resolutions!
With that in mind, I put together three ways you can rethink or reframe your weight loss resolutions. Read the rest of this entry »

Seems like punishment to weigh myself on a day known for pranks and practical jokes, but I established my own weigh-in calendar, and weighing myself on the first of every month, including April 1st, is part of the deal. And this is no joke: I’m up two pounds.

I’ve been pretty good lately about not getting bummed at weight gains. I have a lot to be proud of, and I’ve accomplished so much, but this one stung a little bit, if only because Read the rest of this entry »

Another month, another weigh-in! Here’s the results after I got on the scale yesterday, as shown on my weight loss chart:

I stayed even. Maintaining my weight is always a win, although to be honest, I was expecting a loss, because my exercise this month has been excellent. (More on that in a bit.) Read the rest of this entry »

…so some sort of celebration is in order, right?

Left: Richard and me in January, 2010. I was 402 pounds. Right: Richard with me weighing well over 100 pounds less.
I don’t really feel like celebrating, though. I don’t know what I’m feeling, to be quite honest, and, to paraphrase a song lyric, I don’t know how I feel about that.
There’s a lot to celebrate, and muddled emotions aside, I am still very Read the rest of this entry »
