This is typically one of my favorite posts of the year. I’ve done a Year-End Progress Report every year for ten years, and use it to crunch numbers and check in on all the awesome progress I’ve made over the past 12 months, in regards to my health, fitness, and weight loss.
To be honest, I’m dreading it this year, because I haven’t made any progress. I’ve actually gone in the opposite direction. So I’m rethinking this post. This year’s report isn’t about progress, it’s about taking stock of my circumstances and setting a new baseline, from which I can make all sorts of excellent progress in 2021.
And I’m going to highlight any successes that I come across, so I don’t lose sight of them. I need all the motivation I can get! Let’s practice: Read the rest of this entry »

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a delightful holiday season. Here’s a really awesome Christmas present that my sister-in-law Alexis gave me: a portrait of me and JJ as characters on “The Simpsons!” I love it so much.
Now let’s get into it. Time for my yearly wrap up. Time for my 2019 Year-End Progress Report! Read the rest of this entry »

Happy New Year! My 2019 rolled in with a nasty cold that completely sidelined me for four days. I’m still not 100% feeling better, but the congestion is gone, I’ve begun exercising again, and all that’s left is a sore throat that makes me sound like present-day Kathleen Turner.
But before I rush forth, whole-hog, into the new year, I have some housekeeping to do with 2018. This annual post is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to jump into… My 2018 Year-End Progress Report!
One of my favorite photos from 2018.

There’s many numbers to crunch today, but before I start, check this out!
I’m in the paper! An article was written about me in the Oakland Press, a hometown newspaper that covers Oakland County, Michigan. Read the article here. (It also ran in Read the rest of this entry »

I look forward to this post all year! You know I share my weigh-in results and workout progress report every month. But when a new year starts, I put together a report that encompasses the whole prior year. I find it very interesting and hugely motivating, so let’s get to it!
First, my weight loss chart. I did my first-of-the-month weigh-in, and I’m up two pounds. Read the rest of this entry »

I updated my weight loss chart with the results of my monthly weigh-in:
After holding steady in September, I was down one pound! The one-pound loss is excellent, and Read the rest of this entry »

Usually I’ll start a post like this with my weigh-in results, but this time I’m gonna flip it around and start with my Workout Progress Report, because I hit a big milestone there: 3,000 cardio miles!
I track the distance I cover doing all forms of cardio (running, biking, elliptical, what have you), and on April 14th, I Read the rest of this entry »

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the post I look forward to all year long. Every month I share my weigh-in results and workout progress report. But at the end of the year (or, actually, the start of the year, since this is January 4th) I take a step back, and instead of focusing on one month, I focus on the whole goddamn year.
And, in order to do that, I’m going to need an assist from…My brand new weight loss chart!
This chart has been desperately needed for a few months, ever since I Read the rest of this entry »

A few weeks ago, my friend Margo (who is a blogger and YouTuber) invited me to participate in a charity project, and I jumped at the chance. I got the final product the other day, and it’s super cool. Introducing… F*CK 2016 – A 2017 CALENDAR!
Margo and her friend Joey put this together in response to all the Read the rest of this entry »

I don’t do official weigh-ins while traveling, since I’m away from my weight loss chart, so I missed my July weigh-in entirely, and I’m a week late for my August weigh-in. Better late than never! I stepped on the scale, nine weeks after my June 1st weigh-in, and here’s what it said:
Down two pounds! I’ll take it. A weight of 251 means I’ve lost and kept off 151 pounds for 6.5 years. That’s Read the rest of this entry »
