Hello again, Stratosphere!
I’m back from my Las Vegas trip, where I competed, for the fourth time, in the American Lung Association’s Scale the Strat – a race up 1,391 steps in the tallest freestanding observation tower in the USA.
I didn’t like this race after I did it for the first time in 2014, mostly because Read the rest of this entry »

Have you seen the new ABC comedy “Splitting Up Together”? Only four episodes have aired, on Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30 central. Last week’s episode featured three actors climbing an enormous stairway, and as soon as I watched, I knew I had to climb them myself!
Here’s the same stairs on “Splitting Up Together”: Read the rest of this entry »

Time for Part Two of my Sweden Two-Parter! My first Sweden post focused on food. This one is about everything else, including exercise. And ABBA!

I’ve made so many incredible friends through stair climbing – supportive, motivating folks that I’ve learned from and grown with – and Lisa is one of them. It’s exciting to see her recognized in such a major way. Keep it up, Lisa!
Moving on… I met up with a couple friends over Read the rest of this entry »

I switched up my workouts before last weekend’s Hike the Halo race. I bumped up my running, and did a couple workouts specifically designed to help me prepare. Both those workouts involved… lots and lots of stairs. (Surprise, surprise!)
In a perfect world, I would have published this post before the big race, but as we all know, the world isn’t perfect, and I got a Read the rest of this entry »

This past Saturday, I did something that I’ve never done before. I’ve never even come close to accomplishing what I did on Saturday. It was a record-shattering workout, in more ways than one!
On Saturday, I completed a six-hour, 15.7-mile urban hike throughout Silver Lake that involved 42 staircases and 4,314 steps. Yes, it was exhausting. Yes, I’m still sore. And yes, it was awesome.
Here’s just one of the staircases – we climbed 42 of these bad boys:
