I Drove 15 Hours To Compete in a 30-Minute Race

My last post was all a recap of the Pine Mountain 500 – an awesome race that ended with a dash up 500 steps. What I left out of that post was the logistics… how I traveled 15 hours in the car, over 2 days, all so I could participate!

Racing Up The Tallest* Outdoor Stairway in Michigan! (Pine Mountain 500 Race Recap)

Last weekend I competed in my 29th race of the year, and my second in Michigan’s gorgeous – and incredibly remote – Upper Peninsula. I earned the biggest, heaviest finisher’s medal I’ve ever seen!

The race was called the Pine Mountain 500, and it was held at the Pine Mountain Ski Resort in Iron Mountain. There’s a ski jump there, and alongside the jump is a 500-step stairway. Read the rest of this entry »

Many Races Are Challenging, But None of Them Measure Up To The Red Bull 400

I love getting high. And before any of you jump to conclusions, I’m talking about stair races. I’ve raced the stairwells in all sorts of tall (and very tall) skyscrapers, but this past weekend I got to experience a whole new way to get high – by racing up a ski jump at the Red Bull 400.
