There’s Donut-Flavored Tic Tacs Now… And Homer Simpson Is On the Box!

May 31, 2018

I love “The Simpsons” and am completely indifferent about Tic Tacs. Luckily, my love for Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Snowball II, Santa’s Little Helper, and the entire town of Springfield is so strong that I immediately snapped up every kind of Simpsons Tic Tacs as soon as I saw them at a gas station.

While all three boxes of Tic Tacs contain yellow breath mints, there are three distinct flavors. Read the rest of this entry »

My As-Seen-On-TV Workout! I Climbed the Giant Stairway Featured on a New ABC Comedy

April 19, 2018

Have you seen the new ABC comedy “Splitting Up Together”? Only four episodes have aired, on Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30 central. Last week’s episode featured three actors climbing an enormous stairway, and as soon as I watched, I knew I had to climb them myself!

Here’s the same stairs on “Splitting Up Together”: Read the rest of this entry »

44 Hours in Seattle

October 8, 2015

The great thing about flying to Seattle for a competition is that after I was done racing up the Space Needle’s stairwellI got to hang out in Seattle! It’s an awesome city, and I love visiting. This was my third visit in a year! This visit was quick – slightly less than two days – but it was fantastic. I spent lots of time with my friend Collin, whom I’ve now known for over 18 years.

This picture was taken on the ferry to Bainbridge Island. We headed across Puget Sound on a little excursion after I raced. Bainbridge is a charming community with a Read the rest of this entry »

I went a little bonkers over the weekend with my Lego Simpsons minifigures. But with good reason.. I EARNED IT! In July, I started the Bowflex Summer Strong Challenge, a 30-day program designed to increase your strength training. I gave myself an incentive to complete the program: only after Read the rest of this entry »

Despite the mixed feelings I’ve been having about my 5-year weight loss anniversary, I did splurge on a little special something as a present to myself. A little special something… made of little LEGO bricks!

Two Gym Visits… and 2,500 Legos In Between

April 21, 2014

On Friday evening, after work, I headed to the gym to complete my second-to-last workout of the week. I lifted weights, focusing on lower body, and did a ton of squats, walking lunges, leg presses, and more. I enjoy Friday nights at the gym, because it’s not very crowded at all, and it was a good workout. With that workout under my belt, I only had my upper body weightlifting workout left, and I love that feeling of being so close to reaching my weekly goal.

The rest of my Friday night involved embracing my inner nerd (who am I kidding? I’m a nerd on the outside, too), by doing something that combined two loves from earlier in my life. Read the rest of this entry »

Lego

May 25, 2012

I had to buy a new iPod. I last wrote about my iPod in March, when I dropped it on cement and cracked the glass. My iPod rebounded from that trauma, and the cracked screen proved not to be a fatal wound, just an unsightly cosmetic one. What did my iPod in was some sort of faulty, damaged battery. I didn’t get the specifics, nor did I care – what was important was that I got a new iPod, and, once again, all is well in my mobile music world.

The iPod wasn’t the only thing that came home with me from the mall. That’s because the Apple store I frequent, at the Glendale Galleria, is right next door to one of my favorite stores in the entire world: a store that whisks me immediately back to my childhood and fires up every creative and design-related synapse in my brain…

…The Lego Store!
