I’ve Lost Nearly 10 Pounds Since the Lockdown Began – Part One

April 19, 2020

I’ve been working from home for five weeks, and, all things considered, I’m in a really good spot. I’m still employed, with no signs of being laid off. I’m healthy, as is my family. I suffer a little cabin fever every once in a while, but long walks with JJ really help with that, and if they don’t, I’ll go for a drive, with no destination, just to get out of the house.

I’m lucky that I have the ability to use the Stay-at-Home order in my state as an opportunity to Read the rest of this entry »

I Learned All About Kohlrabi and Then Cooked It Three Ways

August 3, 2016

Ever had kohlrabi? I came across it at Eastern Market in Detroit, and I was in the mood to try something new, so I bought it. (Full Disclosure: I’m pretty much always in the mood to try something new.)

The Month Flew By! My Final Thoughts on Personal Trainer Food

January 31, 2016

At the end of December, I started a Personal Trainer Food program called RECON. They provided me with a four-week supply of food, and I followed their program diligently. On simple terms, it’s a very low-carb program (no grains, no sugar, almost no fruit), and I was eager to switch up my eating. So for the past month, I’ve been enjoying their food (which is basically all proteins and veggies), and having meals like this:

The month flew by! It seems like it’s only been a few days since Read the rest of this entry »

Now I Know What Kangaroo Tastes Like

January 18, 2016

I had to clean out my freezer a few weeks ago to make room for all the Personal Trainer Food that arrived, and in doing so, I found something I forgot I had: KANGAROO MEAT!

Chicken with Tarragon, Grapefruit, and Olives

June 23, 2015

I wanted to continue my little streak of cooking and eating citrus fruit, peel and all, so I came up with an easy, simple chicken recipe and tried it out on a couple friends who came to dinner. My recipe is inspired by a delicious meal my friend Katherine made in Sweden, which in turn was inspired by a Martha Stewart recipe. Leave it to me to mess around with Martha’s perfection!

It starts with Read the rest of this entry »
