Greetings from Michigan! I arrived yesterday, and I’m so excited to see snow.
I know there’s millions of you all over the east and midwest that have suffered through a horrible winter and can’t wait for the spring to come, but for this California resident, snow is a welcome change of pace. Sure, it’s cold, but I go back to 70-degree weather in less than a week, so I’m enjoying it while I can.
The big story is that I’m the guest on a new podcast! The podcast is called “Everyday Runners,” and it’s produced by Runner Academy in Chicago. It features real people who offer real advice and share their stories of accomplishing incredible things. I’m the first stair runner they’ve featured, so that’s pretty sweet.
The podcast went up yesterday, but I did the interview a few weeks ago on Skype. I spoke with Matt Johnson, the Runner Academy Head Coach, and the time flew by. We chatted about my weight loss, the stair races I’ve done, and other assorted topics, and before I knew it, an hour had passed!
Meanwhile, I’m staying healthy in Michigan. I spent $25 to get a week’s pass at a local gym, and yesterday I did all sorts of burpees, mountain climbers, box jumps, and step exercises.
Last night, my mom cooked salmon (with dill, turmeric, lemon and a bit of butter), and we ate it over big salads loaded with veggies and a hard boiled egg.
And breakfast was an egg white scramble with veggies:
There’s also a few ounces of smoked whitefish sausage in there, which I saw at a local supermarket and had to try.
I don’t think I’ve had a fish-based sausage before, and I loved it.
One fun thing about winter at my parents’ house is that they have a steeply-pitched roof, which means they get great icicles. The longest one in this pic ends only a foot or so above the ground:
Okay – time to go to bed… gotta wake up early so I can hit the gym again!
Keep it up, David!
