My First Chart Update in Three Weeks

I’m back in Los Angeles after a wonderful two and a half week trip to Colorado and Michigan.  All you regular blog readers know what an action-packed trip it was: from my longest swim workout yet to my first time in a decade on a bike, to my day at Cedar Point, complete with 21 roller coaster rides.  I had a great time, and while it’s always hard to say goodbye to family and friends you don’t see all that often, I’m glad to be back home.

Today is Tuesday, which means it’s time for a chart update!  Because of all the traveling, three weeks have gone by since my last update, and I was looking forward to seeing what the scale had to say, and drawing a new line on my chart.

First, a little recap: When we last left off, Eve walked in on her husband in bed with her sister, Theresa plotted to keep both Little Ethan and the unborn baby, and Luis and Martin tried to track down a brainwashed Paloma, with no luck.  Whoops – that’s a recap of what happened on “Passions” the week of August 9th, 2004.  Sorry about that!

No, seriously, a recap:  When we last left off, I weighed 234 pounds.  My chart looked like this:

First I counted forward three weeks along the bottom, and added a line marking the beginning of September:

Then it was time to step on the scale!  Very exciting.  I was even more excited when I saw the number that popped up:

TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO POUNDS!  That’s a two-pound loss.  Woo-hoo!

I added a note to my chart to remind myself where I was during that long stretch of no weigh-ins:

If you can’t read my handwriting, that says “Colorado/Michigan/Cedar Point!”

I’m getting close to the end of the page, huh?  Time for a new page!

Now for some number-crunching. My 2-pound loss brings my weight to 232 pounds, and my total weight loss to a nice and even 170 pounds!

When I was at 402 pounds, my heaviest, my BMI (Body Mass Index) was 48.9.  (You’re considered overweight if you’re above 25, and obese if you’re above 30.  You can calculate your own BMI here.)

Now, at 232 pounds, my BMI is 28.2almost 21 BMI points lower!

With 170 pounds off my body, I have now lost 42.29% of my original weight!

    Congrats on your weight loss, son. Guess that means you can visit home more often? Or that your Mom doesn’t force feed you…..or hardly even cook for you. But, most important, you are in total and successful control of the calories and exercise in your life! I don’t ever expect that to change, what an achievement!!

    I think it was all the roller coasters at Cedar Point–how’s any weight supposed to stay on with all that shakin’ going on! Congratulations, especially being away.

      Thanks, Susan! Good luck to you – losing weight is difficult, but every single pound is worth it. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed – but try not to think about all 70 pounds – think about a few small changes you can make to be healthier every single day. Once you incorporate a few small changes into your life, add in a few more – those small changes add up! What are you waiting for? Start today! And KEEP IT UP!
