I’m a Jogger!

Went jogging tonight, and ended up feeling quite proud of myself!  It was my 6th jog ever.  My first time jogging was two weeks ago tonight.  I had wanted to incorporate jogging into my exercise arsenal for a few months now, but I’ve never been a runner, and didn’t want to start and have bad form and create bad habits.  So I enlisted the help of my aerialist/dancer/yoga instructor/general fitness guru friend Tavi (and yes, he really is all those things), to show me the ropes.  The first time out, we jogged 2 miles – about a mile further than I anticipated I’d be able to go.  Then, during a super-short Labor Day weekend trip to Michigan to see family, I went jogging 4 more times (in three days!).  Well, they were more like jog/walk combos, but still jogging was involved.

Tonight, I decided I’d try to jog to the North Hollywood stand-alone Macy’s, which I guessed was 2 miles away from my place.   I made it to Macy’s, did a big loop around the giant parking park, was still feeling really good, so I decided to try to jog all the way home.  And I made it!  After walking about 10 minutes to cool down, I jumped in my car and drove the route.  Turns out Macy’s is only 1.5 miles away, but that means I went 3 miles total!  A new record!  That’s 11% of a marathon, I’ll have you know.

Before heading home, I swung by Ralph’s to pick up a few things.  They had Bounty paper towel on sale (which I need), and I had a Bounty coupon, so between my rewards card and coupon, the $11.99 package cost me $4.49.  I do love a good sale!  Also picked up a few other things, including a Greek yogurt, and, in the process, dropped a container, breaking it.  I took it to the register and offered to pay for it, but she said not to worry about it.  I didn’t, however, notify them that a cleanup was needed at the end of aisle 2.

Keep it up, David! (The jogging part, not the make-a-mess-at-the-supermarket part)
