I have never let my weight keep me from dating. Yes I am fat. If I choose to lose any weight, it is not because I want to just to look good. It will be because I need to for health reasons. If I am not happy with who I am at 250, how will I be happy at 110? Ugly is ugly at any weight. I laugh at those that lose weight just to be pretty. You obviously have issues with yourself and losing weight will not make thw issues disappear.

I'm sorry David...I disagree. There are plenty of people who want to fuck teddy bears...just look up "furries" on google and I'm sure you'll find plenty of proof of that.

Love you!

I don't watch "Food Network Star," but I can totally understand the whole "funny fat friend" attitude. I didn't put myself out there on the dating market at 300 pounds ... I didn't start dating until I'd lost a ton of weight on Atkins the first time around.

Would anyone have wanted me when I was so fat? I don't know because I didn't try. But I kind of doubt it.

Maybe that's the old insecurities shining through. Now that I'm older, (hopefully) wiser and more comfortable with who I am, I don't worry so much about it. It won't stop me from getting back down to my goal weight, though.

Your blog popped up in my email just above a message entitled "The Comparison Trap" by Renee Swope (Proverbs31 Ministries). It was very interesting reading the two in succession. A quote from her message is "Every time we compare ourselves with someone else, we can never measure up because we're comparing our insides with their outsides." WOW, that shook me as did your post, I don't watch the show anymore for a number of reasons, some of which I hadn't identified until you pointed them out.

Keep it up David!

I definitely went through something similar. When I was 250 pounds, I felt unattractive and basically gave up because I knew I'd never be a size zero--which is what I *thought* men wanted.

Now, 110 pounds lighter and a size 4, I realize that life is more about how we feel about ourselves, how we are healthy and project a healthy body and attitude to people. It doesn't happen over night, but it eventually does!
